What would you call a backhanded compliment in reverse? In other words, what’s an insult that after delivered turned out to be a compliment?
Whatever it’s called, I got one yesterday.
Let me explain.
For those who know me, you know I’m not one to pull punches about our broken food system. Recently, I was focusing on industrial food’s claim of needing to “feed the world.” Noble idea. Pitiful performance. After all, over a billion people go hungry every day. The problem is that the world’s hungry can’t afford to do business with the agribusiness giants, e.g., Monsanto, Dupont, Kraft, Unilever and many others.
After stating my opinion on Twitter, I was attacked by a couple industrial ag attack dogs, mostly characterized by a lot of barking. After some warm up yelps, they nearly simultaneously asked what I was doing to help feed the billion hungry people on our planet.
At first, I must admit, I didn’t have an answer. I even wondered if I was indeed making a difference. Thankfully, I shook off such doubts and started to see why Pro Food entrepreneurs like me get such attention.
