Put Your Voice on the Table Video Contest

By on June 10, 2010 – 4 Comments

It’s time for you to get your voice out there, to add it to the growing call for change in the American food system!

Farm to Table is creating a video collage of all the people out there who eat food from farmers (that’s everyone), which we will send to the USDA, the White House, and The Food Revolution Team, as a message that there is a need for change. A video petition, if you will.

If you’d like to be part of this video, all you need to do is submit a short clip of yourself in your chosen locale and mode of dress saying the phrase, “My Farm, My Table,” and/or “Your Farm, Your Table” (or any combination). We are looking for creative ways people express the connection between their food and farms, and their daily lives and activities. An example would be an athlete in sports gear in the gym or the track (maybe with some real food recovery meal in hand…). We’re keeping things open-ended purposefully, so surprise us.

To submit your video, you can upload it to the F2T Facebook group, with the title “Put Your Voice on the Table Video Submission,” or you can e-mail it to voice@farmtotableonline.org if you’d prefer.

We will select 50-80 clips to be featured in the final video based on originality and sincerity of message.

But wait! There’s more!

Even if you don’t get selected for the video, you can still win something. We’re giving out three cookbooks to the people who do the best job of spreading the word through links, shares, and Tweets.

To enter to win a cookbook, leave a comment below, making sure to use an email address where we can contact you.
There are eight other ways to increase your chances of winning, for a total of 7 possible entries:

  1. Tweet this contest post. (See links at the top of this post.)
  2. Stumble this contest post. (See links at the top of this post.)
  3. Follow us on Twitter. (Link also under “Join Us” to the right of this post, in the sidebar.)
  4. Fan us on Facebook. (Link also under “Join Us” to the right of this post, in the sidebar.)
  5. Tweet any other article on this site that you enjoyed.
  6. Stumble any other article on this site that you enjoyed.

IMPORTANT: When you leave a comment below, please list each of the ways in which you entered so we can make sure all your entries are tallied.

Here’s an example of a comment that counts five entries:

Hi, I’m Mary! I tweeted and stumbled the contest, followed you on twitter, tweeted the article called 13 Ways to Create a Sustainable Food Tipping Point, and became a fan on FB. Thanks!

Your name will be entered into the drawing as many times as you enter (as indicated by your comment). The entry deadline is 9pm PST on Sunday, August 29, 2010. The following week, we’ll announce the winner, who will be selected using a random number generator.

The cookbook prizes are a copy of Clean Food by Terry Walters, who we interviewed earlier this year, and two copies of Dishing Up Vermont, by Tracey Medieros.

This contest will be open until the end of the summer, so be sure to tell your friends and get out your cameras.

If you’ve been waiting for a time to make your voice heard, this is it!
