Write for Us

Farm to Table is a community blog, and so we love to publish guest posts from other bloggers and anyone with a story to tell. This page will explain the procedure for submitting a guest post, requirements, and benefits.

The Procedure

Submitting a guest post is simple.

  1. Contact us with your article idea. We want to make sure it’s something appropriate and something that hasn’t already been covered to death so you don’t waste your time.
  2. Register for an account here, and fill out your profile. We also recommend you register for a gravatar.com account, so that your picture and information appear in the author box with your posts. Once you have registered, you can login using the link at the very bottom of every page, or click here.
  3. Write your article. See guidelines below for our requirements.
  4. Post as a draft and notify us that it is ready for review and formatting, which we can do for you. If you have pictures, you can e-mail those to us as well.
  5. Alternatively, you can send us the article as a word document with all the formatting as you want it and we will post it for you and give you credit.

Guidelines

  • Posts must be 700+ words.
  • Posts must be in English.
  • Posts must be formatted appropriately. Headings and sections are ideal. Minimally, it must be divided into paragraphs.
  • Post must not be filled with links to your site.
  • You must have rights to any pictures used, or they must be creative commons.
  • Post must be unique, something that you’re only publishing on Farm to Table, unless we have a syndication agreement.
  • For some additional pointers on storytelling, check out this post by Zach.
  • No inappropriate, offensive or derogatory content. In the case of Farm to Table, while we support and promote local, sustainable foods, personal attacks on individuals involved in industrial food production methods are considered inappropriate. Criticism is fine, but keep it civil.

Posts are edited by the main authors of the blog and may be subject to change where necessary. These changes include grammatical changes, formatting reconstruction, content additions (and in some cases, removal). Please be aware, however, that editors do not have time to make extensive revisions in most cases, so please do your proofreading and editing before submission.

Benefits

In return for your contribution to our site, you can include a link to your blog or website at the top of your post. Also, your bio will appear with each post, so your readers can get to know you and will visit your site.
